Video of the Week: What can we expect from Riyadh's metro in 2018?

saudi.jpgRiyadh's metro will be a 178km long, six line driverless metro network and 85km bus network upon completion. The $22.5 billion project will be the backbone of the city's public transport system. This mega-project is the largest such project under way in the Middle East and arguably even the world. The region has a rapidly expanding city and its population has doubled to more than six million people since 1990. This investment in the Saudi Arabian capital’s public transport infrastructure is meant to alleviate the local traffic problems which this growth has helped created and is now stalling further development.
