This 3-minute video has gone viral on Chinese social media this week, and SmartRail World is proud to be able to bring it to you today, the first Western media source to do so. Released by the China Railway Construction Corporation Limited (CRCC), already the largest engineering contractor in China and one with the publicly stated goal of being the "the world's most competitive large construction group". It would be hard to bet against them in achieving this, with projects announced in countries as varied as Argentina, Belarus, Kenya and Fiji. This video, detailing how a tunnel is punched through a mountain, is a further demonstration, if one is needed of the remarkable work China does in high-speed rail. Their high-speed railway network is already the biggest in the world at 25,000km, and the plan is to grow this to 38,000km by 2025. So sit back, and enjoy this little insight into how things are done in China!
